Model[edit]

There's a new model for him coming out. Same with Magnus, Scarab Occult Terminators, Tzaangors, and Rubricae! Tyranid Memestealer (talk) 01:21, 19 November 2016 (UTC)

Quote Dispute[edit]

Noticed a bit of a fight going on about the quotes. Best to argue about it here?

I'm of the opinion that the number of quotes someone or something has should match their relative importance to the setting. For instace, the Emperor has ~4 which I think is fine due to him being one of the major players of the setting. However, someone like Ahriman is relatively low-key and should really be kept around 2 at most.--Naeondaemon (talk) 05:14, 1 January 2017 (UTC)
I've been looking at quotes as used in the literary tradition: generally speaking if a work is opened with a quote, it'll be a single quote that effectively sums up the character or provides good insight into their thoughts or actions. In Ahriman's case, I kept the "All is not dust," because it very effectively sums up his ambition and hope, but also his flaws, because it references the rubricon. Why not make it a quote per paragraph, from noblebright to grimdark, as per character progression, if multiple quotes are felt as necessary? No need to fatten the epigraph and play Captain Obvious with it - "All is not yet dust!" is perfect as it is.
The idea with placing two or three quotes is to reflect different views of the topic subject, for example, in the entry for mankind we quote agent Smith, who has an overly negative view of mankind, Robert E. Heinlein, who praise mankind, and then Terry Pratchett, who gives a more neutral view on the subject, personally I don't mind someone adding up to 5 quotes as they can always give a nice flavour to a text, even a small haiku, but I don't think we need to place a quarter of a page from some obscure treaty to express what we think, also, the things we may quote should come from some sort of known writer of book, as quoting himself/herself sounds like an ego-bot. --McNash (talk) 20:26, 1 January 2017 (UTC)
Ultimately it's for the group to decide, as this is a cooperative project. Personally I much prefer the idea of spreading out quotes through the page. Having them all at the top seems sloppy to me. For example, Guilliman's page had four quotes until I changed it, two of which were from the same freaking source (Sun Tzu). I feel that if it seems there's a need to have more than one quote it should be discussed and one should be selected. That said, I'm well aware of the more informal nature of these articles, so perhaps setting a hard rule is inappropriate. In the future if it gets too crowded I'll try to spread things out a bit as seems appropriate, and if there's issue with that, it can be discussed then. Josman (talk) 00:54, 2 January 2017 (UTC)
