Samaritan

The Samaritan is an Imperial Guard battlefield medical vehicle and possibly, the only known field hospital vehicle used by the entire Imperium.

Overview

It is a variant of the Chimera that forgoes all offensive weaponry in favour of medical and communications equipment.

Used in the role of a battlefield ambulance, the Samaritan is crewed by Medical Company orderlies such as Chiurgeons, who venture across the battlefield to collect wounded, providing minor treatments and ferrying them to nearby Orders Hospitaller field hospitals. As such, these vehicles also fall under the purview of the Sisters of Battle.

There are currently no models for this vehicle, largely because GeeDubs think it is not grimdark enough to warrant a release. Although custom models were made as can be seen on the right. Nevertheless, given the usual casualty figures, the Imperium must need a metric shit ton of these tractor ambulances.

Its Great Crusade and Horus Heresy counterparts were the much smaller Auto-Gurney.

Trivia

• Its name is a reference to the parable of the "Good Samaritan", someone who helps a stranger in need, and the namesake of many hospitals and health services. Given what this thing does, the name is quite apt. More deeply, it originated from the Samaritan Sect that split off from Judaism, and the parable tells of a Samaritan who helps an injured (implied to be) Jewish stranger lying by the side of the road when two of his own countrymen had ignored him.
